An Historical Gazetteer of London Hospitals contains within a single volume the historical record of hospital buildings in London. The Victorians did not mince their words and London can be mapped out during the period by body-parts: the Alexandra Hospital for Children with Hip Disease, City of London Hospital for Diseases of the Chest, St Andrew´s Eye and Ear Hospital and the Gordon Hospital for Fistula, Piles and other Diseases of the Rectum.
I am the author of Essential Constable, An Historical Gazetteer of London Hospitals and Washing Lines of the World. See Projects.

The World Series: Washing Lines of the World, Libraries of the World and Hospitals of the World. These light-hearted books take a world view on a diversity of subjects. |
